This Privacy Policy explains what information RadonCosts.com collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. RadonCosts.com is a directory of radon mitigation prices and certified radon mitigation installers in the United States. When this policy says "we", "us" or "our", it means RadonCosts.com.

The short version
- We collect the details you type into our forms, details installers give us about their business, and basic technical data that every website receives.
- If you ask for quotes, we share your request with up to 3 certified radon mitigation installers near you, and only because you asked us to.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
- We do not run advertising cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Information we collect
Quote requests
When you use our Get Free Quotes form, we collect your ZIP code, name, email address, phone number, property type, foundation type, your latest radon level (if you give it), your timeline and any notes you add. We also record which page or installer listing you came from, and the date and time of your request. Our form software also stores the IP address, browser type and web address the form was sent from, which helps us spot spam and abuse.
Report Your Price
When you use our Report Your Price form, we collect the details of your radon mitigation system (such as ZIP code, install date, price paid, what the price included, the installer's name, system and foundation type, radon readings before and after, warranty and satisfaction) along with any comment you add and your email address. We use your email only to check or follow up on your report. We never publish your name, email address or street address.
Installer accounts, listings and claims
If you create an account, add a listing or claim a listing, we collect your username, email address and password (stored in a scrambled form that we cannot read), the business details you submit for your listing (such as business name, address, phone, website, service area and certifications), and any information you give us to verify that you represent the business. Business listing details are meant to be public and are shown on the site.
Reviews
If you leave a review, we collect your name, email address, rating and review text. Your name, rating and review are shown publicly. Your email address is not shown. Like most WordPress sites, the site may check your email address against Gravatar, a WordPress.com service, to show a profile picture next to your review.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use Google Analytics, a service from Google, to see in aggregate how visitors find and use the site, such as which pages are viewed and roughly where visits come from. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this information, and Google processes it under its own privacy policy. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics data to identify you. Other cookies are only those needed for the site to work, for example to keep you signed in to an installer account or to remember your details when you leave a review. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout); parts of the site that need a login may stop working if you block all cookies.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider (Hostinger, including its content delivery network) automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the date and time. These logs are used to keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
Content loaded from other services
Some pages load files from other providers, which means your browser connects to them and they receive your IP address: icon files from Font Awesome, map images and address lookups from OpenStreetMap-based services when a map or location search is shown, and a script from Hostinger used for email sign-up forms. These providers handle that data under their own privacy policies.
How we use your information
- To respond to your quote request and match you with certified installers who serve your area.
- To build and check the price ranges and cost data shown on the site.
- To run installer accounts, publish and update listings, and handle listing claims.
- To publish reviews and keep them honest.
- To answer your emails and requests.
- To keep the site secure, prevent spam and fraud, and fix problems.
- To comply with the law.
When we share your information
With installers, only when you ask for quotes. If you send a quote request and tick the consent box, we may share your request, including your name, email, phone, ZIP code and home details, with up to 3 certified radon mitigation installers who serve your area so they can contact you about a quote. We review requests before sharing them, and we never share a request with more than 3 installers. Each installer handles your information under its own privacy practices. If you reached the form from a specific installer's listing, we take that into account when choosing who to share with.
With service providers. We use companies that help us run the site, such as our web host and email provider. They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
For legal reasons. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of RadonCosts.com, our users or others.
If the site changes hands. If RadonCosts.com is sold or merged, your information may be transferred to the new owner, who must follow this policy for information collected under it.
Information you choose to make public, such as reviews and business listings, can be seen by anyone who visits the site.
We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (targeted ads). Sharing your quote request with up to 3 installers happens only because you asked us to connect you with them.
How long we keep your information
- Quote requests: up to 24 months, then deleted, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Price reports: we keep the price and system details as long as they are useful for our cost data. We delete the email address within 24 months.
- Installer accounts and listings: for as long as the account or listing is active, and for a reasonable time afterward for our records.
- Reviews: for as long as they are published on the site.
- Server logs: for the limited time our hosting provider keeps them.
We may keep some information longer if the law requires it or to resolve disputes.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong;
- delete your information; or
- stop sharing your quote request with installers (installers who already received it will need to be contacted separately; we will tell you who they are).
Email info@radoncosts.com with your request. We may ask you to confirm your identity, for example by replying from the email address you used. We aim to respond within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
California and other state privacy rights
If you live in California or another state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to request deletion or correction; and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. As explained above, we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. You can make any request by emailing info@radoncosts.com, and you may use an authorized agent to make a request for you. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children
RadonCosts.com is meant for adults. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access to form entries. No website or email system is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information, such as financial or health details, through our forms.

Listings and pages on RadonCosts.com link to installer websites, state agencies and other sites. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will make it clear on this page.
